DESCRIPTION
ThermOmegaTech® Scald Protection Valve, Ambient Sensing, Series: HAT/SP, Activates at: 110 deg F Open/100 deg F Close, 1/2 in Inlet, 4-1/2 in Length, 1.3 in Diameter, 300 Series Stainless Steel, Model 1/2 HAT/SP-110-C-SS-E (Ambient Sensing)
Pipes supplying safety showers, facewash and eyewash stations can easily be overheated by the sun or heat tracing, resulting in dangerously hot water at the point of use. The self-operating thermostatic HAT/SP valve monitors ambient or water temperatures, automatically bleeding off the excessively hot water to allow cooler water to backfill. This prevents scalding temperatures from releasing from the equipment and causing even more hazardous conditions for the operator. The thermal actuator at the heart of the valve will sense either the ambient or fluid temperature, depending on installation orientation and will modulate the valve open to establish flow if the temperature is above the valve's set point, typically 98 deg F (36.7 deg C). Cooler water from the supply will backfill the line and cause the valve to modulate closed once the water temperature falls to 10 deg F below the open set point, typically 95 deg F (35 deg C), eliminating water waste.
