What are Spirax Sarco FT14 Float Thermostatic Traps?
Float & Thermostatic Steam Traps incorporates a float valve mechanism that adjusts to release condensate continuously at steam temperature, while simultaneously releasing non-condensable gases through a separate internal balanced pressure thermostatic air vent.
Common applications for this trap include all process equipment, especially those controlled by modulating temperature control valves. Additionally, it is suitable for unit heaters, air heating coils, heat exchangers, and steam main drip stations.
How does The Spirax FT14 Steam Trap work?
Traditional Float and Thermostatic Steam Traps operate by using a float mechanism to open a valve as condensate accumulates, while a thermostatic element adjusts the valve opening based on steam temperature. This ensures continuous and efficient removal of condensate and gases, in order to maintain system performance.

Initially the air and cool condensate enters the trap escaping via both the capsule port and the open ball trap orifice. |

As the condensate begins to heat up, the capsule expands and closes, but the float is still in the fully open position. |

When the steam reaches the trap the float begins to drop and this will regulate the output. |
|
Condensate leaving the trap will experience a pressure drop. This drop in pressure will generate flash steam. |
