MegaPress vs MegaPressG
MegaPress vs MegaPressG: What's the difference?
The Viega MegaPress System is a safer and faster way to connect carbon steel and stainless steel pipe. The connection time is a mere 7 seconds or less and there’s no need for burn permits and fire watches. As this method gains popularity, customers ask us many questions about the MegaPress system. As an authorized Viega distributor, a common question customers ask us is: What is the difference between MegaPress vs MegaPressG?
MegaPress is the overarching system of press fittings made to connect carbon steel and stainless steel pipe up to 4”. The term MegaPress can also refer to the line of Carbon Steel Press Fittings with an EPDM seal.
MegaPressG is just one specific type of MegaPress fittings. The “G” stands for Gas. MegaPress G is made from a carbon steel alloy and corrosion-resistant zinc-nickel coating that is specifically engineered for heat, oil, and chemical exposure. Viega MegaPressG uses an HNBR sealing element (signified by the yellow dot) for use with gas fuel oil applications and a graphite separator ring engineered to withstand high temperatures. It is available in sizes from ½" to 4" and approved for underground use according to local codes.
